INTERNATIONAL TAX PLAZA - ECOFIN adopts a directive introducing a new system for resolving double taxation disputes

On October 10, 2017 a meeting of the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) took place. During the meeting the Council a.o. adopted a directive introducing a new system for resolving double taxation disputes between member states. The purpose of the directive is to strengthen the mechanisms used to resolve disputes between EU member states that arise from the interpretation of agreements on the elimination of double taxation.
