On October 16, 2017 the HM Revenue and Customs opened a public consultation regarding draft legislation amending the Corporation Tax (Simplified Arrangements for Group Relief) Regulations 1999 (S.I. 1999/2975) and a draft explanatory memorandum thereto.

S.I. 1999/2975 currently enables groups to enter into simplified arrangements with HMRC in order to submit claims and surrenders of group relief. The draft regulation would provide that companies can also enter into simplified arrangements in respect of claims and surrenders of group relief for carried-forward losses.
