(March 10, 2015)

On March 6, 2015 on its webpage that is dedicated to the BEPS project, the OECD published a press release stating that working closely with relevant regional tax organizations, a regional network meeting in Eurasia was held in Ankara, Turkey on March 4 & 5, 2015. This meeting followed the other regional networks on BEPS held in South East Asia (Korea, February 12 & 13, 2015), Latin America and the Caribbean (Peru, February 26 & 27, 2015), and with Francophone countries (Gabon, February 27, 2015).

According to the press release twenty senior tax officials from 6 jurisdictions participated (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Slovak Republic, Tunisia and Turkey) in the event. Also representatives of civil society organizations (Oxfam and Tax Justice Network) and business (Deloitte and Anadolu Group on behalf of BIAC) were invited to present their views and share their perspectives with tax officials in two plenary sessions. Discussions focused on BEPS issues of particular relevance for the region and the development of 'toolkits' to assist the implementation of solutions to counter BEPS.  Business and civil society representatives participated in open sessions of the meeting and provided their perspectives on the BEPS Project.

A document containing a summary of the discussions as drafted by the co-chairs of the meeting is attached to the press release. According to the press release as issued by the OECD, these will be discussed at the meetings of the Global Forum on Transfer Pricing and the Task Force on Tax and Development on March 16-18, 2015 and will feed views from the region into the development of the BEPS outputs by the Committee on Fiscal Affairs and its Working Parties.
