On March 11, 2015 the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore published the IRAS e-Tax Guide “GST Guide for e-Commerce (Second edition)”.

 

According to the e-Tax Guide the aim of the Guide is to explain the GST principles relevant to the e-commerce industry; and to assists its readers in understanding how Goods and Services Tax (‘GST’) should be charged on electronic commerce transactions of physical goods, digitised goods and services. The guide furthermore states that You should read this guide if you are GST-registered and are in the business of providing goods and services in the e-commerce industry.

 

The e-Tax Guide discusses subjects like a.o.: 

·         Overview of GST;

·         Taxability of supply: Physical goods supplied over the Internet;

·         Taxability of supply: Services / Digitised Goods;

·         Taxability of purchases from an overseas supplier;

·         Accounting for GST;

·         Invoicing your customers;

·         Online price displays; and

·         Documents required for record keeping.
