(July 1, 2015)

On June 30, 2015 the government of Liechtenstein issued a press release announcing that it had decided to open negotiations with Monaco on a DTA (an agreement to avoid double taxation) to be concluded between both States. According to the press release, the DTA will be based on the OECD Model Convention. It is also stated that it is the intention of the government of Liechtenstein to include a clause arranging the exchange of information with respect to tax matters in the DTA that will be in line with the international standard. In the press release the government of Liechtenstein states that it expects that the negotiations will be concluded somewhere in the first half of 2016.

In 2009 Liechtenstein and Monaco already concluded an agreement on the exchange of tax information (TIEA). When concluding the TIEA both parties already expressed their intentions to open negotiations on a DTA.
