On November 25, 2015 the Dutch State Secretary for Finance sent the Dutch Parliament for informative reasons a letter that was originally sent on November 6, 2015 from Mr. Mathias Müller (Vorsitzender des Vorstands) to the Dutch Minister of Finance and the Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and the Environment. The letter regards the potential impact of deviating CO2, respectively fuel consumption, values on taxes.

One interesting paragraph of the letter reads as follows: “Volkswagen will inform the tax authorities in all relevant countries about the new C02 values as soon as they are available. The Volkswagen Group guarantees that potential additional taxes will be settled by Volkswagen Group. We would be grateful if also you would be willing to allow — if necessary through legal or administrative measures — that the competent tax authorities do not impose any potential additional public charges to our customers but rather to Volkswagen directly.

In the letter it is stated that the letter was also sent on behalf of the Group companies Audi AG, SEAT S.A. and Skoda Auto a.s.
