During some of its meetings several members of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE) expressed their annoyance at the fact that many multinationals turned down the invitation to appear in TAXE’s hearing. TAXE’s frustrations even went so far that it threatened to sanction the multinationals that turned down TAXE’s invitations to appear at its hearings.

On October 19, 2015 however an announcement titled: “Meeting with multinational corporations (MNCs)” was published on the website of TAXE. According to the announcement, TAXE will organize an extraordinary committee meeting on November 16, 2015 (See also our calendar for the week from November 16 through November 22, 2015).

According to the announcement, during this meeting TAXE will meet with various multinational corporations, who have declined previous invitations, to hear their views on recent developments in the corporate taxation in the EU and beyond. These include, among others, the OECD proposal on the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Action Plan to the G20 and the ongoing Commission consultation on Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB).

Unfortunately TAXE has not yet announced the names of the multinational corporations that have agreed to meet with TAXE on November 16, 2015.
