Guest speakers will give a workshop on tax rulings to MEPs. The workshop focuses on a.o. transparency and equality in tax rulings across the European Union and on fiscal state aid and exchange of information. The workshop will be streamed live via the internet and because of the guest speakers it can be interesting not only for MEPs but also for tax experts.

The workshop takes place on June 2, 2015 from 15.00 till 18.30 CET. Guest speakers will include a.o.: Elly van de Velde (Professor of Tax Law, Faculty of Law, Hasselt University), Raymond Luja (Professor of Comparative Tax Law at the Faculty of Law at Maastricht University), Jeffrey Owens (Director of the Global Tax Policy Center, Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria), Carlo Romano (Scientific Director of the LL.M in International Tax Law, Higher School of Economics and Finance, Rome, Italy), Roman Seer (Director of the Institute of Tax Law and Tax Procedure, Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany), John Vella (Associate professor, Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation, Saïd Business School, United Kingdom).

Before they went to the workshop that can be viewed by the public, the MEPs had what was called a Technical Meeting. Based on the information that has been released regarding this Technical Meeting, during this closed meeting MEPs received a crash course on what tax rulings are. The guest speakers for this meeting seem to have been Elly van Velde and Raymond Luja. Ms. Van Velde discussed the matter of Transparency and equality in tax rulings across the European Union. Mr. Luja discussed the matter of Tax rulings, fiscal state aid and exchange of information.
