On June 17, 2015 from 9.00 to 12.30 CET the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effects is organizing an exchange of views with EU national parliaments on aggressive tax planning and democratic control. According to a press release issued by the Special Committee in this respect the discussion will concentrate on negative effects of harmful tax planning on Member States, awareness of and control from national parliamentary committees on tax rulings and other measures similar in nature or effect, and will generally seek to bring out important elements that may help the European Parliament understand better national choices and deliver recommendations that it deems necessary in this matter.

On the website of the European Parliament a list of representatives from the national parliaments that are supposed to attend the meeting of the Special Committee was published. Click here to be forwarded to the list of representatives that are supposed to attend the June 17 meeting of the Special Committee, as published on the website of the Special Committee.

Perhaps just as interesting as the list of participants are the written contributions that have been published on the website of the Special Committee in this respect. Click on the name of the country to be forwarded to the written contribution of the country of your choice: Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary (in Hungarian), Portugal (in Portuguese), Slovakia or Sweden. The written contributions are reactions to this letter that was sent by the Special Committee.

Attached to the draft agenda are also the following documents:

• Report of House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts on "HMRC’s progress in improving tax compliance and preventing tax avoidance";

• EPRS briefing on "Planification fiscale agressive" (In French);

• Leaders' Declaration -G7 Summit - 7-8 June 2015.

Unfortunately the European Parliament at this moment has not yet provided information whether the meeting will be broadcasted live via the internet. So check this article out from time to time.
