(July 1, 2015)

Initially the July 2, 2015 meeting of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect would consist out of a morning and an afternoon session. The morning session would be a joint meeting with the Economic and Monetary Committee in which views on taxation issues would be exchanged with Mr. Juncker and Mr. Moscovici. As we already reported yesterday, this exchange of views had to be postponed due to current developments in relation to Greece. Consequently the Special Committee had to revise the agenda for the meeting, which means that now there will only be a morning session that according to the revised Draft Agenda is due to start at 10.00 CET.

Based on the revised Draft Agenda, during the meeting of July 2, 2015 the Special Committee on Tax Rulings first will exchange views with Richard Murphy (Tax Research LLP and founding member of the Tax Justice Network). Subsequently it will exchange views with ‘multinational corporations’. Based on the overview of “Multinational corporations invited to TAXE special committee’s hearings/meetings” (as per June 26, 2015) as published on the website of the Special Committee it looks like only Airbus will be available tomorrow to exchange views with the Special Committee.

The above mentioned also seems to indicate that the exchange of views with Arjen W.H. Meij, which was originally planned to take place during the afternoon session, has been postponed or cancelled. Unfortunately the Special Committee has not provided any further information in this respect.
