(September 21, 2015)

On September 17, 2015 the Australian Treasurer announced Australia’s intention to commence tax treaty negotiations with Israel. See our Quick News from September 17, 2015.

On September 18, 2015 the Australian Treasury published a media release announcing that it invites public submissions on issues that may arise with negotiating the new tax treaty. The closing date for submissions is October 30, 2015.

According to the media release, the negotiations will seek to conclude a (new) Double Taxation Agreement to reduce the incidence of double taxation, provide greater tax certainty for businesses and enhance the integrity of both countries’ tax systems. Currently no Double Taxation Agreement is in place between Australia and Israel.

For further information on this consultation and on how to submit comments, click here to be forwarded to a media release published on the website of the Australian Treasury in this respect.

Did you know that you can very efficiently find the texts of Double Taxation Agreements that either Australia or Israel (or many other States) have concluded with another State via our section DTAs & TIEAs?
