On March 8, 2016 the European Commission issued a pres release stating that it welcomes the political agreement reached on the same date during the ECOFIN Council by the EU Member States on the automatic exchange of tax-related financial information of multinational companies, known as Country-by-Country Reporting. The Commission notes that the agreement is subject to UK parliamentary scrutiny.

On March 16, 2016 the UK Government will release its 2016 Budget. On March 7, 2016 the HMRC already published the website which from Wednesday March 16, 2016 will contain all tax related Budget 2016 documents from HMRC and links to documents from HM Treasury. So if you are interested in tax developments taking place in the United Kingdom, this seems to be a page that is already worth bookmarking.

On February 26, 2016 we already reported that the European Parliament's Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE 2) invited several multinational corporations for its meeting of March 15, 2016. However, these multinationals were not the only parties TAXE 2 invited to attend one of its meetings. TAXE 2 also invited a selection of interesting jurisdictions to exchange views during either TAXE 2’s March 14th or TAXE 2’s March 15th meeting.

On March 4, 2016 the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein issued a press release announcing that Liechtenstein is getting ready to implement BEPS.
