Those who have checked our calendar for the week from April 25 – May 1, 2016 might have already noticed that it mentions a live webcast from the European Parliament on April 28, 2016. At the time we initially prepared our calendar not much more information was available with respect to this webcast as that it would involve TAXE 2 and the Policy Department: Economic and Scientific Policy. Today TAXE 2 has announced that it will be a workshop on studies that were requested by TAXE 2. According to TAXE 2 the studies will be presented by their authors.

 

According to a programme of the workshop the following studies will be presented:

·        The Future of Tax Rulings within the EU (Elly van de Velde) (15.10 -15.45 CET)

·        The Anti-Tax Avoidance Proposals and Public Disclosure of Tax Information: Is the EU Moving in the Right Direction? (John Vella) (15.45 – 16.25 CET)

·        Aid Recovery: Its Limits as an Anti-Tax Avoidance Measure? (Raymond Luja) (16.25 – 17.05)

·        The Financial Sector and Tax Planning (Karel Volckaert) (17.05 – 17.50)

 

In addition the TAXE 2 also published a link to a draft report titled: “The Role of the Financial Sector in Tax Planning” on its website. Click here to be forwarded to this draft report as available on the website of the European Parliament, which will open in a new window.
