On the website of the Council of the European Union a press release has been published announcing that the deadline of the so-called silence procedure regarding the proposal for a Council Directive laying down rules against tax avoidance practices that directly affect the functioning of the internal market has expired without any of the 28 EU Member States raising any objectives.
This means that a political agreement on the matter has been reached and that the proposal will now be forwarded to the European Council for adoption during a forthcoming meeting.
