INTERNATIONAL TAX PLAZA - Hong Kong signs agreements with Portugal and South Africa on automatic exchange of financial account information in tax matters

On Monday April 3, 2017 the Inland Revenue Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region announced that Hong Kong has signed agreements with Portugal and South Africa for conducting automatic exchange of financial account information in tax matters (AEOI).

According to the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department the total number of Agreements for conducting AEOI that Hong Kong has signed therewith comes to 11 since earlier Hong Kong already signed similar agreements with:

· Belgium;

· Canada;

· Guernsey;

· Italy;

· Japan;

· Korea;

· Mexico;

· the Netherlands; and

· the United Kingdom
