The next meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion (PANA) will take place on May 30, 2017. During this meeting PANA will hold hearings with Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker (European Commission President) and Mr. Fernando Rocha Andrade (Portuguese Secretary of State of Tax Affairs).

 

Hearing with Mr. Juncker

The hearing with Mr. Juncker will be held from 15.00 – 16.30 CET. According o an announcement issued by PANA, its members will discuss with President Juncker ongoing and upcoming Commission initiatives regarding the fight against money laundering, tax avoidance and tax evasion, and Luxembourg practices of (non-) cooperation with the EU and EU Member States in the area of competence of the PANA Committee.

 

Hearing with Mr. Rocha Andrade

Members of the PANA Committee will discuss with the Secretary of State about Portugal’s approach in the fight against money-laundering, tax evasion and tax avoidance.

 

Moreover, the Secretary of State will enlighten the Committee about the measures Portugal has taken after the Panama Papers and on the current state of play concerning the ongoing corruption scandal in the country.
