On July 28, 2015 the Dutch Government published the English text of the Convention between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Kenya for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income (hereafter: the DTA) and a relating Protocol, which were signed in Nairobi on July 22, 2015. Although signed, the DTA has not yet entered into force. For the DTA to enter into force, the respective ratification procedures have to have been finalized in both countries.

 

Below we will discuss some of the regulations included in the DTA of which we think they might interest our readers.

On July 28, 2015 the Dutch Government published the English text of the Convention between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Zambia for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income (hereafter: the DTA) and a relating Protocol, which were signed in Addis Abeba on July 15, 2015. Although signed, the DTA has not yet entered into force. For the DTA to enter into force, the respective ratification procedures have to have been finalized in both countries. When entering into force, the newly signed DTA will replace the existing Convention stemming from 1977.

On July 24, 2015 both the European Commission and the World Trade Organization (WTO) issued press releases announcing that the European Union, the United States, China and some further WTO members agreed on July 24, 2015 to eliminate custom duties on 201 high-tech products. According to the WTO the tentative accord reached by 54 WTO members on July 18, 2014 was confirmed as the basis for implementation work to begin. The WTO furthermore states that ministers from the participating members will now work to conclude their implementation plans in time for the WTO's 10th Ministerial Conference which will be held in Nairobi this December.
